HVAC Equipment Checklist
- Check Air Filter Monthly - Dirty filters restrict airflow and reduce efficiency—replace or clean every 30–60 days, especially during heavy use in Florida’s hot months.
- Inspect Outdoor Unit for Debris - Clear leaves, dirt, and plants from around the condenser to prevent overheating and airflow blockages.
- Test Thermostat and Cooling Response - Set the thermostat a few degrees lower and ensure the system kicks on quickly and blows cold air—delayed or warm air could signal a problem.
- Know Your System’s Age - Most HVAC systems last 10–15 years. If yours is older, it may be less efficient and more prone to breakdowns—consider a professional inspection or upgrade.
- Listen for Unusual Sounds - Banging, grinding, hissing, or rattling can indicate issues like loose parts, motor problems, or refrigerant leaks—don’t ignore these warning signs.
